 Deadly Earthquake Hits Aceh In Indonesia
Over 100 people are reported to have died following an undersea earthquake off Indonesia’s northern Aceh district.
The magnitude 6.5 quake struck just off the north-east Coast of Sumatra Island, where scores of people are said to be trapped in debris after several buildings collapsed.
According to the U.S Geological survey, the earthquake struck just offshore at a depth of 17.2 km.
Meanwhile, the risk of a tsunami has been ruled out by Indonesia’s meteorological agency.
Aceh, a popular tourist destination was completely devastated following a tsunami that killed more than 160,000 people in Indonesia alone in 2004.
